Just announced, after making a splash as the standout World Premiere production in last year’s Contemporary American Theatre Festival, Berta, Berta will have its second production at Everyman Theatre in 2020!!! Launching their inaugural New Voices Festival, Berta, Berta will run from March 17th to April 26 2020 in a season featuring the work of emerging female playwrights. Stay tuned for tickets!
Gun & Powder World Premiere Production Announced!!!
After a 5-year journey of creation and development, Gun & Powder is finally having its World Premiere Production! Just announced in the Signature Theatre’s 30th Anniversary Season, Gun & Powder will run from Jan 28th-Feb 23rd 2020. The production will be directed by acclaimed director Robert O’Hara (Bootycandy, Slave Play) and produced by Holtzman Lopez Productions (Be More Chill, Bandstand). Click here for ticket info!
NAMT was a Success!!!
Ross Baum and I had a BLAST at the 30th Annual NAMT Festival of New Musicals! Over 700 people traveled from all over the country and across the Atlantic to see the 8 shows featured, and GUN & POWDER received nothing but roaring applause and phenomenal enthusiasm! We’re so looking forward to the next steps for our show! The NAMT presentation of GUN & POWDER was directed by Warren Adams, and featured the talents of 10 breathtaking performers, including HAMILTON’s Solea Pfeiffer and Liisi LaFontaine of DREAMGIRLS (pictured above).

It thrills me to announce that I am one of six playwrights chosen for the inaugural cycle of the Geffen Writers' Room at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles! A MOTHER'S RITE, the Film!
After premiering to a sold-out house of 1600 people, choreographer Jeremy McQueen and I released the film version of A MOTHER'S RITE. Shot in the apartment of the legendary Langston Hughes, experience an even more intimate account of this mother's pain, portrayed by Alvin Ailey dancer Courtney Celeste Spears.
A Mother's Rite Goes to Summerstage!
Next Thursday August 16th at 7pm, A Mother's Rite will premiere at Marcus Garvey Park via Summerstage. Choreographed by Jeremy McQueen, starring Courtney Celeste Spears, the ballet will follow a performance of MADIBA, also by Jeremy McQueen and the Black Iris Project. Admission is free! From July 10th-July 23rd, Gun & Powder was featured in the NEXT Festival at Theatre Latté Da in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Directed by Nicole Watson, Angelica and Ross wrote a few new songs and presented two public presentations of the draft.

Out of 226 submissions, Gun & Powder was 1 of 8 musicals chosen to be featured in the 30th Annual NAMT Festival of New Musicals. On October 25th and 26th, Gun & Powder will be presented at New World Stages for an audience of over 500 industry professionals.
Learn to Speak Doll Soars at Peppercorn!
Learn to Speak Doll opened on July 7th at Peppercorn Theatre in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with a cast of four young performers and one adult performer. Featuring a stringed trio of musicians, original choreography and stunning projection design, Learn to Speak Doll premiered with 15 performances. Check out the page for more details.

Berta, Berta opened to a sold out house on July 6th at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Directed by Reginald L. The Richard Rodgers Award Ceremonial
It was an afternoon to remember. Ross and I were floored by the overwhelming honor of being recognized at the Ceremonial with the Academy of Arts and Letters for the Richard Rodgers Award. In the company of legendary writers, composers and artists, we were thrilled to be in that number.

Out of 75 submissions, Berta, Berta has been chosen as one out of six plays for Florida Rep's 5th annual PlayLab Festival! Taking place from May 3rd-6th, Angelica will present Berta, Berta with a cast and director, speak on a Playwright Panel and meet 5 awesome other playwrights and their work. Gun & Powder Wins the Richard Rodgers Award
It's official, Gun & Powder is a Winner of the prestigious Richard Rodgers Award!!! Joining in the legacy of such acclaimed musicals as Rent, Violet, Grey Gardens and Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, Ross and Angelica have been recognized by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and awarded with funds towards a workshop production at a major theatre in New York City. In a flash, we closed the workshop production of Crowndation; I Will Not Lie to David at the National Black Theatre. It was a tremendous journey, and yet it's only the beginning!
